Information You Provide
A name, telephone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains only the information included in that message, which is used to respond.
Automatically Logged Information
Like most hosted sites, the service records routine log details such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of request. Aggregate use of those logs helps maintain the service and understand traffic. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the service, diagnose problems, measure broad traffic patterns, and improve its reference pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
Garden City Residents Directory links to Michigan and Wayne County portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search services. The policy of the destination controls information submitted there. That includes sponsored search results supplied by an outside company.
Who May Process It
Hosting and support providers process the routine logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure and not otherwise.
Safeguards and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection and keeps logs only for the purposes stated above. Because no visitor account is offered, the service does not hold a password or member profile for a visitor.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Michigan has no general enacted state law that provides a universal opt-out from commercial data sharing. A request about data held by this service can be sent through the Contact page; we will check the contact mailbox and routine logs and remove information where appropriate. Records held by Michigan, Wayne County, or Garden City are controlled by their custodians. Requests concerning those records must go to that office. Michigan Freedom of Information Act exemptions, MCL 15.243, and the Michigan Address Confidentiality Program, MCL 780.851 et seq., may limit disclosure in particular cases.
